Summer Sparkle Complete

I have been feeling really tired, fed up and sorry for myself the last few days.  But do you know what has cheered me up this morning?  Well read on...I completed my Traveller dress on friday but today was my first chance to get photos.  I started off trying to photo it in the dining room.  Ironically I have been reading a book called "Cut the Clutter" that I thrifted recently.  I have implemented some of the ideas, and have even planned a post about it.  Well, obviously not in this room.
These indoor photos just weren't working due to excess clutter and poor light.  So I went outside.

My "butter wouldn't melt" face of innocence.  I always look like this when near copious amounts of alcohol.
Then I had to go and buy bread and milk so here we are...um..yes...that's the alcohol aisle in my local supermarket.  No, I am not stashing wine in my pram.  I may be struggling with the chaos of everyday life,  but it's not that bad. The booze aisle seemed the least busy for the self timer.
Look closely and you can just see the yellow hem tape I used
Then I tried the homewares aisle.  And that's it...what cheered me up was sneaking around the supermarket photographing myself!
Oh and the dress?  I don't want to damn with faint praise but it's comfortable, and I am loving the pockets.  It's so cold here I am wearing cropped leggings under it. I made the sleeves with turned up cuffs because that just seemed better than a plain old hem.  I can't really think of much else to say about it.  But that's good cos it's an everyday dress that fits and that I can wear a lot, I don't need to witter on about it.   One problem though:  eeeeeek, I don't have an orange cardigan to wear with it.  Can I cope with that?

Well done for finishing your Traveller dress looks gorgeous and I am sure it will be a great self confidence boost to have finished something that looks wonderful and stylish and despite all the obstacles.

    1. Ah yes, I did think briefly about the security cameras while I was in there. I am feeling surprised with myself for having made something that is not a tent-like shape!

    1. Yes, you must try it soon - they have such big flouresecent lights in the supermarket so I am sure that makes for better photos.

  6. This post made me laugh, so funny, love the dress!! And the aisle of alcohol!!!!(notice number of exclamation marks) Did you know that in Norway we are only allowed to buy wine in special stores? Never in the supermarket, ever. That's how it's like here, and it's not even the Soviet Union. Therefore: aisle of alcohol at the sumermarket makes me happy, and jealous.

    1. I didn't know that about having special shops for wine. I think selling alcohol here has been relaxed over the last twenty years or so, but maybe not such a good thing since we have so many alcohol-related health and social problems here in the UK.

  8. Superb! The pics and commentary really made me chuckle, and the dress? Love that version, it looks cool with leggings too. It seems a good transition garment for in between seasons with the 3/4 sleeves. I originally dismissed this version, but will think again now, esp with some wild print. Hurrah!

  10. Oh - I love this Debbie! The dress looks great and it's nice seeing so many (nonheadless) photos of you :-), but truly the thought of you poking about the supermarket for a quiet aisle, and where you ended up, had me laughing. I love it! Hope you make this up in another fabric too, looks like a great "go to" pattern.
