A knitted rag rug from old tee shirts |
The museum was a strange experience for me as the museum has been majorly extended and rebuilt but retains original areas which I remember vividly from childhood. There was a sense of recognition but also a sense of dislocation. That night I couldn't sleep lying awake trying to figure out where staircases led to now and where they used to lead to.
Charlotte very kindly gave me a Guardian craft book book "Making Stuff" . I have been enjoying flipping through it. Here are some of my favourite ideas and images.

Finally, I am doing a tiny bit of sewing with this purloined floral cotton. I am slightly worried I will end up looking like a floral sofa at the end of it.
Congrats on the tomatoes! I'm not a very green thumb myself. I have managed to keep an orchid alive for 2 years and I'm astonished; it's looking a little piqued lately though. ;)
ReplyDeleteThew tomatoes are a complete fluke! For three weeks in June/july we had so much rain that the back door swelled up and I couldn't get to the garden to check on them or feed them! x
DeleteThe knitted rag rug is interesting - more washable looking than clippy rag rugs with lots of ends.
ReplyDeleteWow - RIPE tomatoes! Ours all still all green.
This is the first time in 3 years I have had red tomatoes! I bought my plants at a church fete - maybe they come with extra help from on high???
DeleteI had a great time too, and least of all to find out I knew your sister!! Small world, any how glad you like the book, and yes yes, always up for a coffee or a glass of wine. x x xx
ReplyDeleteI konw - it is so funny that you already know her! I will let you know when I am next in Devon x
DeleteHmm, those bee people look interesting! And I love the floral-- you're going to look so cute in it!
ReplyDeleteThank you ...T only just squeezed himself into his bee costume. The museum has wheeled bee cases kids can take around. Among the items inside were the bee costumes. :)
DeleteI love the idea of the t-shirt rug, as Snippa has already pointed out it would be washable and I would imagine very quick to knit up. Well done on the red tomatoes - I'm afraid here in Wales mine are still very green!
ReplyDeleteNice to have you back! I love the rug, would be really quick to make as well I think. First time red tomatoes here as well!
ReplyDeletehmmm. I didn't want to comment as unknown, hope its works this time.
DeleteWow, what a making crafting holiday!!!! Sorry to have also been away from it all, but looks like you have more to show for it than me....mine was purely social commitments...I saw a good idea for a magnetic pin board....paint a baking tray ( old one of course!!) and I don't think you will look like a sofa, that fabric is gorg
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely meetup, and I also was immediately drawn to the idea of a t-shirt rug. "Benign neglect" - I love it! Also, that floral bit you showed looks quite promising ...
ReplyDeleteSounds like great fun despite the rain, and that book looks lovely! I really like the look of the t-shirt rug! Also yay for ripening tomatoes. I had almost despaired for mine, but one (of the 10) is slowly turning red and I hope the others will follow...
