Recently...

Recently I sewed up a woven tee shirt using the
"Simple Modern Sewing" book and scraps of fabric.  The neckline is too big due to my hasty late night cutting.  But naturally I have a plan to rectify this.

Recently I also took my three children away on the train, to Glasgow.

So no sewing for a few days, just many parks, museums, eating out and a lot of walking.  I would like a medal for taking them on a 4 hour journey and staying in a hostel.  The big two were very good and Rocket Girl was, well, she was a three year old! As you can see in the picture below.  She is laughing here, not crying.

Interestingly, the older children loved Glasgow and say it has changed their ideas about living in a city.  So maybe next year I can be brave enough to take them to London?  I have been promising a trip there for a long time.

  2. I do like the look of your top, I'm glad you are going to rectify whatever is wrong with the neckline (looks fine on the pic). Your trip looks fun. One day you will look back and wonder how you managed it! I know I do x

    1. The neck is just too big and slides around. I am thinking of a tuck or two. You have me curious now as to what trips you did with your children when they were younger?

  3. Wow well done re 3 children & a train! I love going back to glasgow (my home town) with my wee boy. He loved the Botanics, but wa provably loved Kelvingrove so it's nice seeing both of these in your pics. i love living in London but I can imagine visiting with 3 children is just a wee bit daunting!! I love that printed fabric on your top. I hope you can fix the neckline.

    1. Haha, I love that you can spot where we were! Glasgow is great, - we did spend some time with my brother who went there to uni and never left. The children also loved the Riverside and the Science Centre, the Govan ferry, Glasgow Green with its awesome play area and bikes, and Queens Park. We even went on the subway which was a complete novelty to the children! They wouldn't let me do much shopping though, probably a good thing in retrospect. My main fear of visiting London is my little one who runs off, but I am hoping she'll grow out of this soon.

    1. Thanks, the older two were really sad to leave. They are now saying they are "mueumed out" however! And want to stay home playing video games! Little do they know I have a mandatory day in the woods for tommorrow ...evil I know xx

  5. Wow! You are a real hero for traveling with 3 children. I've always wondered how one manages that - it seems like I'd have enough hands for two children, but not the third (this is perhaps my limited, non-mother brain!) So when people manage it, I am in awe.

I like the look of that top, hope a fix is near at hand!

    1. I love you for saying I am a hero. The big two were fine, and it was a good learning experience for them as they were not used to long train travel. They each had a small wheelie case and a backpack so were able to look after their own luggage. xx

  6. It sounds like a great, adventurous trip out! Hopefully they will remember it for a long time. Very well done, sometimes travelling with just one is a trial so three sounds amazingly brave!!
