Words of wisdom..from the passenger seat

"You know, it's strange because electricity can save your life or electricity can finish you off.  It's all to do with the heart really".
Ah, to be ten years old...figuring out the world.  Now I have an appeal, T would like a penfriend, preferably a boy, aged ten-ish.  He is quite put out that Little I has a penfriend in The Netherlands and he doesn't.  So if you happen to know a ten or thereabouts year old who possibly also contemplates electricity, and who'd like a penfriend, drop me an email here: minnadoshouse@gmail.com

I can't add much to this.  Except to say we are happy here as it is June and June means church fetes, school fetes, village fetes. Fetes mean tea in a china cup with saucer, homemade cakes, orange squash and bouncy castles.  White elephant stalls, hook a duck and tombolas.
Do you have fetes or something similar near you?

  3. I am in the middle of organizing one for the local primary school! It is proving a major stress and I wasn't that keen on them in the first place. Although tea and cake is often the best bit! Can't help on the penfriend front I'm afraid.

    1. Yes, though we pronounce it like "fate" or "f-eight" here rather than fet. Does that make sense??

  5. Your boy is very wise. :)
Sadly, I don't have very many ten year olds in my acquaintance. And not very many fetes (as such), possibly because I don't have any school age kids? We had loads of those in the town where I grew up. Berlin, now, has quite a few big summer fairs, with rides and food stalls and music (the two big ones are the German-American and the German-French fair, to celebrate friendship with the allied forces, although I have no idea why there's neither a German-British, nor a German-Russian fair). I fear they're a lot less charming than fishing ducks, bouncing on castles and drinking tea from china cups... :)
