recently

Recently.....
there's been a flu bug, followed by a sickness bug, followed by a different stomach bug....Little Rocket Girl's body clock has gone so haywire that she's frequently waking at 4am and not returning to sleep until  10 or 11am.  Some days with the older kids in school I have crawled back to bed and slept with her....consequently there's been no blogging time and not much blog reading.  Now it is holiday time so I am hoping to crack this 4am waking.  It's a killer.
Anyways, there's been some sewing reorganisation.  I went out and bought new needles for my machine...I found a local independent sewing machine engineer who serviced my machine for half the price of the services at the nearest sewing machine shop!  Plus he collected it and brought it home for me.  This was a fantastic service as I was stuck at home with ill kids.  So, now my machine is running smoothly, especially, since I read the section on thread tension in my handbook, there has been some sewing...using this "subtle animal print" jersey from Minerva Crafts sale section,

I made a second Ottobre tunic, the first one is here

I have been wearing it almost daily.  It is warm and I just loves it.  I am ducking my head to avoid showing the horror of  my eye bags after the 4am wake ups.

  2. I'm sorry you've had some many challenges, but the tunic is tops! It really suits you - I think it's possibly the daintiest tunic I've seen.
Hope you & your family have a FAB Christmas & you get chance for some rest :-)

  3. I remember when my three had a sickness bug all at the same time and I didn't know who to see to first, so I completely empathise with you, and as for the 4 am starts :( I don't know whether this helps really but now mine are teenagers I can't get them out of bed, so things will change! Hoorah for your lovely Ottobre tunic, something comfy and pretty to wear to get you through this tiring time!

  4. Oh, NO! That's so very terrible-- I'm so sorry! Hope you and yours get well and get back onto a normal schedule SOON! I'm one of five kids, and I really thought my mom would have a nervous breakdown when we all got chicken pox... one at a time, right after the other. She ended up moving half of us into my grandma's house for over a month just so she could get a little help! It's so hard to deal with sick kids.

On the other hand, I love the tunic and the animal print is just so fab! Merry Christmas to you and Happy 2014!

  5. Just read my end of the year post from 2012 and was reminded how exhausted I was when youngest was not sleeping! I hope it has gotten better. Be kind to yourself, not sleeping is the worst!

    The tunic looks great!
