In progress

I bought Simplicity 1696 last year and finally pulled it out last weekend.  I have some cheap ebay denim to use up.

For the pocket linings I am using a piece of cloud fabric from my mum's quilting stash.
That's as far as I have got.  I like to see other people's i n progress posts, do you?  Sometimes I get a bit tired of seeing only completed sewing projects.  There's a great tah-dah quality to them, I love seeing hat everyone makes and I am impressed but sometimes it feels like finished item posts makes everything seem so simple and easy and I am left thinking I am the only one who sews in tiny stages in between Life.  So here is a perhaps timely post showing sewing in tiny bits between nursery pick ups and school clubs, between cooking and clearing up, homework and playing in the sand.  I don't know when I will finish these trousers...but I do have a zip clutched in my hand ready to put in,

  1. Love the cloud fabric! The pattern picture looks very promising, I hope they are good fit. I always enjoy reading about the process behind the item, much more than just seeing the ready project.

    1. Thank you, my fabric is very different to your green chino fabric, so it's a bit experimental to see how they turn out. I wish I had a bigger piece of cloud fabric, it'd make a lovely top. X

  6. I'm so excited to see how these turn out! Seems like a pattern that has worked so well for so many people! :D I like to see in-progress posts, too... but I have to admit that I'm terrible at getting around to doing them!

  7. How do you like the pattern? I'm curious to see how the fit turns out. :) All I have right now are in-progress posts...except that I haven't even had time to turn them into blog posts, ha! But I agree, sometimes I wonder how the hell people have much time to sew! Keep at it, whatever you may be doing! :)

    1. The pattern is okay so far, though I'm not a big fan.of the diagrams, just not how I learn. There's pockets and zips to do before I get to the fitting, so I'll let you know! X

  8. I have this pattern too, I really should make them. The Amazing Fit is a big promise, but they seem to have worked well for others. Cloudy pockets look lovely

    1. Yes, go on, try this pattern. I'm feeling frustrated with all the bits to do before I get to the fitting stage. It's that promise of "amazing fit"....just makes me impatient to try it

  9. This sounds like a great trouser pattern. It's nice to be reminded that other people sew in little snippets of time round everything else. I hope you get these to fit well, it would be amazing it have a good fitting trouser pattern!

  11. They look lovely, I will be interested to see them when they are finished. I am just about to cut out my second pair of Ultimate trousers but they don't have pockets etc. I sew in snippets, or in big chunks into the night when everyone else is in bed and I really ought to be too. I hardly ever sew in the daytime and I often have piles of unfinished things lying around.
