Ahoy there sailor

Another Summer Essential - this Breton style top. I found the fabric in a charity shop in May (only £1.50!!) and blogged about it a while ago. It is very soft and lovely to wear. I used the Breton/Nautical top pattern in the Sew-U Home Stretch book. I cut it as a small but you see it is quite roomy and I cut it quite long so I can wear it with more things in the autumn. I am going to leave it like this and wear it for a while before deciding whether to take it in or not. I can't quite figure out my sizing but that's something to save for another post.

  1. I think you're operating in the inner workings of my mind because I woke up this morning thinking how wonderful it would be if I could get my hands on some striped jersey (not to be found at any of my local fabric stores) and make a boat-neck minidress/tunic from Sew U Homestretch.

And look at you! Great fabric and cut. I agree with the sizing, I've made a xs and small (which measurements I'm supposed to fit at a B34) but I think I feel much more comfy in the xs. I think this will look lovely, of course, as you have it over jeans, but under coats as the weather gets cooler as well. So classic.

  3. Thanks Ali, I had been thinking about stripey t shirt fabric for a time before I found this - it was one of those great chairt shop moments of serendipity! I want to make a jersey dress from Home Stretch too.
Alex, go on, sew that jersey top - looking forward to seeing it!
